The training was organized by the Gender and disability Development Centre (GDDC). The forum focused on Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) by Youth Women and Persons with disabilities.
The objectives /Aims of the Training were to train participants on the Progress and Challenges towards inclusion of PWDs in Development opportunities, Access to Government Procurement Opportunities Process and developing AGPO Implementation work Plan
Participants were taken through the following concepts
- Understanding Disability Mainstreaming
- Disability policy in public institutions based on National Policy
- Facilitation of youth, women and persons with disability to participate in Government procurement Opportunities in public institutions.
- Strategy and Role of Procurement entities in AGPO
- Disability and Gender Mainstreaming Committee role in Evaluation and achievement of 30% requirement
- Quarterly Evaluation and Reporting on AGPO
- Collecting and collating Disaggregated data on Gender and Disability in AGPO process
- Development a work plan on AGPO
In conclusion, it was agreed that Gender and Disability Mainstreaming Committees need to monitor the AGPO process in the university to ensure that the tenders are awarded to the target group.
